Book of the Day: You Win in the Locker Room First

Title: You Win in the Locker Room

Author: Jon Gordon & Mike Smith

From the book: “Culture drives expectations and belief; expectations and beliefs drive behavior; behavior drives habits; and habits create the future. It all starts with culture.”

Takeaway: This is a great book. It’s short (under 150 pages) but insightful, powerful, and practical. I reread it every year. Gordon and Smith offer a framework for coaches wanting to build and sustain successful teams they call the 7 Cs: Culture, Contagious, Consistent, Communicate, Connect, Commitment, and Care. Each of these concepts are critical to the craft of coaching and this book offers a good reminder and motivation to put them into practice.
